Kim Kardashian’s Buns in the Face…Of Our Collective Celebrity-Addicted Psychology

America. My beautiful America. Think. Get over yourself. What you see is what you get. Or rather, what YOU WANTED.

I’ve been meaning to blogroll this pic since it surfaced a few days ago. However I wanted to wait a moment to see if it would go viral. What a surprise? Well, not really. Within two days, this Plain Jane selfie went viral just as I expected.

So let’s not be full of hypocritical b.s. here. As obnoxious, self-absorbed, un-talented, and undeserving as Kim Kardashian seems to be, she represents a celebrity-fixated voyeuristic psychological glimpse into the collective media-immersed American consciousness. She’s openly doing what our elected leaders, business moguls, sports stars, and even our so-called authority figures regularly engage in each and everyday. At any point in time, you are being scrutinized and judged. In so many words, Kimmy K. (as I like to call her) basically understands that self-defeating human urge and simply responds by saying, “Great. Here’s my butt. Enjoy.”

Like it or not, she’s famous for being famous, and she’s the outgrowth of a self-fulfilling media frenzy created for us by us, the viewing public. While she’s contributed almost nothing tangibly beneficial to society to match her celebrity fame, her presence reveals something about ourselves. We despise her yet simultaneously emulate her using the same voyeuristic media tools that established her celebrity value.

So on that note, I just want to say congratulations to her big amazing buns. I’m not mad at her because I just don’t feel like being a hypocrite today. I’ll let Republicans serve as America’s biggest hypocrites, since they’ve thus far (post-Govt. Shutdown) proven best fit for that particular job. Instead, I prefer to face reality and assess media junk for what it’s worth. So today, I’m going to give props to the media monster that is Kim Kardashian, or rather that is her fantastically well-endowed tookus.

However, the next time she opens her mouth to say something predictably stupid, you won’t find me defending her nearly as much. Instead, I’ll just pause and admit the truth, she really does have some hypnotizing shelf-space and a mind for media manipulation unmatched in the modern day information glut. Hat tip to the American junket.
